The Therapy

Most treatment sessions last an hour and are booked at weekly intervals.  At the first session, an initial extra half hour is necessary so that the client and myself can get to know each other a little and explore their problem more fully.  Any queries about hypnotherapy can be dealt with at this point and the client can be helped to understand what they can expect during the session including confidentiality.

The client can then decide if they wish to proceed into their first one hour hypnotherapy session.  The number of sessions a client will need depends on the individual and his or her particular issue, but this can be estimated during the consultation and first session.

Giving up Smoking is slightly different.  Most of the exploration is carried out during the free telephone consultation.  The first and ONLY therapy session lasts just over an hour and a half, after which time the client leaves the therapy room as a non-smoker.

Hypnotherapy works well for giving up smoking because whilst the nicotine addiction can be got rid of by other means, hypnotherapy addresses the psychological crutch and habit that people so often find hard to deal with.  After hypnotherapy, most ex-smokers say that they forgot all about smoking and suffered no adverse effects such as bad temper, extra eating or drinking.

Self-Hypnosis
At the end of the first session, clients are taught how to do self-hypnosis in the comfort of their own homes.  This invaluable tool that they take away with them is also explained in the leaflet given to the client on departure from the therapy room.  Self-hypnosis homework reinforces what has taken place in the therapy room and is carried out by the client at regular intervals giving them some measure of control over the pace at which their recovery or improvement takes place.

Recorded Sessions
Sometimes clients like to have a recording of the session for them to take home and play as an alternative or as an addition to self-hypnosis.  This can easily be done and is a totally free option.
